Uber card

I don't remember this on my previous Barclays cards, but maybe they worked the same.

I just got my uber card, and looking at the account online:

1) Is there a way to view pending transactions?   I would think there must be but for some reason I cannot see it!

2) Rewards post BEFORE the transactions actually post?

The account shows I have a zero balance, 10641 points, and I was just able to redeem them.   That I really don't remember with any issuer, thought that the transactions at least had to post, because there is an obvious loophole here for naughty people.....

Re: Uber card

I just got my card as well.  Right after I charge something, the charge will sit in the "temporary authorizations" column.  Usually after about 2 days, it moves to the recent transactions column at which point it is assigned a point value based on the merchant code.  I'm not really sure why you can't see this info.  I'm using the app on my iphone and my home computer is using Chrome.  I can see all temporary and recent transactions on both.  Are you possibly using an outdated app?

Re: Uber card

On the desktop site, pending transactions should show under Temporary Authorizations.  For your convenience, Barclays added a "Recent Activity" window right on the main page, and it includes Temporary Authorizations and Posted Transactions.  So, you don't need to go far to see your recent activity.  If you want to get the full listing of transactions since your last statement, you can go to the Activity & Statements menu and then select Transactions.  The temporary and posted transactions show there as well, but you get the full list of posted transactions.

The points are only displayed next to the posted transactions.  I checked and was able to confirm that the points for my temporary authorizations (pending) aren't included in my Current Points total on the main page.  So, I have to suspect that you did indeed uncover some type of glitch or loophole with the redemption process.

Btw, longtimelurker, what was your SL?

I was viewing it on my home computer (Windows 10 running Chrome).  Apparently, once midnight had past (probably) now the transactions show up as posted with the points value.   But my available points are now 0 as it did take my redemption.   I don't see any temporary authorization column

Yes, that window shows for me only posted transactions (previously blank and now showing all transactions).  I don't have an option for temporary authorizations anywhere (that's what I was looking for)   Guess I will have to wait until I use the card again to recheck.

My SL was $12K, but I moved my SallieMae/Commence/Rewards limit over to make it ~ $30K

Just out of curiosity, how does on redeem these points?  Statement credit?  Uber ride credit?  Other?

Re: Uber card

I have noticed with my Uber card that on occasion the pending purchases will disappear for a short time before showing in the posted column. I have been assuming a glitch or just how the system processes things.

Seems to be happening slightly more with the GFs AU purchases while overseas right now. Only happened occasionally with domestic purchases, that I noticed at least. Haven't had any purchases that never showed in pending first though.

Uber credits, staments credits, deposit into checking/savings account, and gift cards and such are all options.

Nice SL and CL.  I just took a look at my Rewards account and I see what you're saying now.  I don't have any pending charges on that account and I see that the Temporary Authorizations headings don't show at all.  Interesting.  For comparison, I know that Discover keeps a persistent heading for pending charges and it will display something like........Sorry, nothing to see here now, check back after you make new charges (or something to that effect).

And now that I think about it, I believe I have checked my Uber account after recently charging new transactions to the card and found that they were no where to be found on my account page.  However, I think my available credit was reduced by the amount of new charges that weren't showing, so I knew that Barclays had the new charges registered at some level in the system.  So, maybe that is what you were experiencing as well.  I don't watch my account like a hawk since I have autopay enabled, but the pending charges do seem to show most of the time I check my account.

Uber1.PNGUber2.PNGI'm going to attach a couple of screen shots to show what a new pending charge from yesterday looked like when I checked my account yesterday.

Uber credits, staments credits, deposit into checking/savings account, and gift cards and such are all options.

And some of the giftcards have a discount, e.g $25 gift card for $22.50
