Re: Unexpected low starting limit from Discover

I haven't been on here much, but thought I would update this post.

When i called Discover to see about an increase in the SL, they basically said no chance. No CLI available at 3 months so I waited until 5 or 6 months and checked for a CLI online. When it said I was eligible, I didn't accept the offer, but called a rep instead to see about combining my two cards. The first rep was absolutely clueless and said it couldn't be done. When I kept insisting that it is something they do, she transferred me to another rep. The new rep was fantastic. She combined my $3500 older card to my new card with it's paltry $1000 limit while closing the older card. Then she gave me a $3000 CLI on top of that to leave me with 1 card and a $7500 limit. I used that for a large percentage of my spend during the year, and at the 13 month mark for the new card, I received an unsolicited email from Discover letting me know that they had raised my limit to $12,500.

Overall I am content with that since I am not one to chase crazy limits and have other higher limit cards. I just like to have enough room to keep my utilization below 9% with the occasional 0% or BT offer on other cards.

Re: Unexpected low starting limit from Discover

This story sounds like my DW story.

Tried many times to combine them. Hopefully, soon they offer a cli so I can combine them.

Thank you for the update.
