Re: Unique case of AU: Am I eligible for my own CSR?

Thank you all for your advice. I went to the branch today. No preapprovals for ANY card. Applied for the CSR anyway and APPROVED with 10k! Thank you all for your help!

Would you say I should close my $200 Cap1 secured card now? I don't see the point in having it anymore. I've heard closing accounts are never a good idea but not sure how "good" a $200 secured card looks on my portfolio lol.

Congrats on the approval.  Glad it worked out for you.  if you dont need the Cap1 card anymore and want to close it, close away.   There is absolutely no harm in closing out out an account or two.   Posters on this forum, including myself, do it all the time.  People/places that suggest closing out a card(s) is bad, typically have no idea what they are talking about.  The beneficial parts of having an existing account, like it's age which contributes to your Average Age of Accounts(AAoA) which is a component of FICO scores, still remain after closing because most cards will continue to report for up to 10 years.  The only time it can be a bad idea is if closing the account dramatically increases your overall utilization, a large factor in FICO scores.  A $200 limit card won't do that, so close it out and get your $200 back.
