Folks these days I have to travel a lot due to my job. I wish to apply for a United Plus Mileage Explorer card to get free checked bag. My dilema is that my utilization is over 45% but my EQ Fico is 685 and my TU Fico is 690.

What are the odds of my getting approved for the card?

 I would say pretty good unless you've had five new accounts in the past two years that would be the only thing stopping you.  Chase has a new policy about new accounts.  Can you get that utilization down  before you apply?

5 new accounts in 2 years willl not impact this CC as this is a co-branded account.  Your chances are decent, but I would get your utilization down before applying as this might kill you alone and not get approved for that reason.   If you got your utilization down to 30% your scores would go up considerably along with your chances for approval, utilization is killing your scores, although the scores aren't really that bad.
