Useful info on applying for a BofA CC

I'm having a fun challenge right now with my BofA. I post more info later, but while I was at the bank, I was engaged in an informative dialog with the CC person at my local branch.

If you claim $100k as your income, then some sort of thresh-hold gets reached and your odds go way up to being approved for a cc. I'm not advocating lying, but my income on '07 return was at $89k and the BofA employee bumped it up to $100k during my CC app process. I told her she had made a typo and she responded that my odds are greater at $100k.

I wouldn't be surprised if the $100K+ income was not like the $10K+ credit limit.

And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: Useful info on applying for a BofA CC

I had a bad experience with them today and was mad during our conversation so I didn't want to talk. She was sick and am sure she didn't want to talk to me either.

On hindsight I wish I moved past what happened and asked her more questions. Here's what I'll do, I have to talk with her again (next week), so if you have any questions, I'll ask them. Score and BK, I'll ask.

The only topics that were brought up were income and inquiries (whether I would have to take a hit) and card type. Also asked about the process, or rather I asked if she could influence the decision-making process (NO). From experience, they pull EX pretty much exclusively and had been approved in the past for two 99/500 offers with scores in the mid-600 (though some have been approved for less).

What's the $10K limit thing?  That NFCU CL I just got  is $10K and my income is $160K but they didn't verify anything.

Starting Score:EQ 560t> TU 560EXP 570
Current Score:EQ 674t> TU 697EXP 700
Goal Score:EQ 700> TU 700EXP 700>

Well, cripes, when the bank employees are initiating lies in your favor, they can hardly carp about what you put on your apps! Smiley Mad

Re: Useful info on applying for a BofA CC

That's crazy.  I highly doubt the $100k income limit makes that big of a difference.  Obviously more income increases your chance of getting their card.  She should have said, "if you put $250,000" on there you'll get this for sure!"  Smiley Very Happy

If you can, pls ask her what is the easiest/best (non student) card to apply for with a) no credit history and b) 6 mth credit (good: 3 ccs and a loan) history?
I'd really appreciate the info. Thks!
