Using limit. Paying and using limit.

So, I had a Wells Fargo banker once tell me that cc companies frown on people who use their cards and pay. Only to use it again. I.e. if I had a $1000 limit.. Spent say $800 over the course of 2 weeks. Paid off 700. Then before the statement over the remaining 2 weeks used more. Up to the limit. Then PIF at end of month. She said that they view this as going "over limit" without actually being that. Is this true? Am I gonna be penalized if I feel like putting purchases on a CC instead of paying cash? Only to pay it down and reuse? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you all!!

I don't know about Wells Fargo, but other banks don't care. In fact, with many banks you can use that as evidence for a CLI request

I hope they don't frown on this, because I am wearing out my Discover card right now. Have been charging well over 50% of limit each week and paying it off. I plan to use as much as possible until this double cash promotion is over.

Re: Using limit. Paying and using limit.

I constantly do this on my Axem and they have given me small auto CLIs over the course of the year. When I try to do the 3x it gets denied as a recent cli was already given.

Chase specifically used that I paid off limits on cards as reason to give me a $25,200k limit on my new CSP. Keep in mind that the make money off terminal fees for each swipe beyond just interest.

Re: Using limit. Paying and using limit.

Had a Barclay analyst tell me that is something they look at to see if you need a CLI.

Wells Fargo are strange cats.  I agree that most card companies would love to see that type of usage and consider it an indicator that you need a CLI.  Capital One for certain sees that and rewards it with higher limits.

Wells Fargo might (?) have a problem with it, but I can *promise* you that Capital One doesn't mind at all.

I was stuck with a toy limit for years until I started 'maxing out' my card, PIF, rinse and repeat, several times a month.  Eventually I started getting the first significant CLIs I had ever received.

Re: Using limit. Paying and using limit.

I don't know about them not liking you using you limit, PIF and then reusing it, but I do know they don't mind you carrying a balance. Or at least they didn't for me. No AA ever; in fact, quite the opposite. I received auto CLIs every so often lol. First $300, then $500, and the latest one last month was for $1,500.
