VENT POST!

I get more pissed by the day. I applied for a secured cc from Orchard Bank back in December 2011. I have STILL to recieve it in the mail! I planned to have this card reporting as I have no cc's on file, no loans showing other than my student loan and I need a mix of credit. Figured it would be showing in time for when I was ready to go for a car loan. That would have been three TL's in good standing and I suspect it would have helped my score tremendously!

Fast forward to present day. I still have no card. I am ready to start looking for a car and now I think Im gonna be stuck with a suck butt APR because my score is so lame. Whenever I call I am told, give it another week...this is WEEK 10 dude, how many weeks does it take OB??!

UGH!

Re: VENT POST!

That would be my suggestion. If this is how they begin the relationship with you, imagine ow it will be once you receive the card. Get a refund and try someone else!

Re: VENT POST!

I agree with other posts. Do you really need to start with Orchard? It doesn't take 10 weeks to send a cc. 10 days, maybe.

Do you have any baddies on your CR? If not, I'd try for a GECard, like Walmart. GE gave me my first rebuilder cc, with only one year of an installment loan on my CR. Also, like others have said, talk with your local CUs. Orchard would be a last resort to me.

I will make this simple for you...Forget Orchard and join a local credit union. Get to know the loan officer and they will help you out. It will be the best thing you do from here on.

Re: VENT POST!

You need to call and cancel, if they have not cashed check, you need to cancel it with your bank.

okay 1. So you have no credit cards but you do have credit and a credit score? what is it and who do you have credit with?

2. Did you do the pre-qual for HSBC and they told you secured was all you could apply for with them?

Have you tried Pre-Qual site for Credit One?

Re: VENT POST!

For whatever reason, I still don't understand it myself, secured credit cards take longer to set up -- that was my experience anyway.  We applied for 3 secured cards in September of last year, but, we did not have them all in our possession, and the accounts reporting, until the day before Thanksgiving.  Capital One arrived the fastest, then USAA Bank, then US Bank -- but, none were speedy.

The ONLY thing I've seen speedy in dealing with credit is the reporting of the inquiries.  Hopefully, by the end of this year, when we are able to apply for real credit cards, the process won't be so slow.
