Why don't you think it will be an issue?
I have no way to know for certain if it will be an issue or not, that is why I previously stated the only way you will find out is to wait until you are eligible time-wise, and then try it and see if they say yes or no. Doesn't get any more straight forward than that. The reason I said that I "don't think" it will be an issue, is that personal experience as well as a plethora of other members' shared experiences have yielded the DPs to give that opinion merit. It's still just an opinion, and you'll have to come back and let us know the outcome once you wait it out and ask them for a PC.
Do I have to call in for it or do I have the ability to go online and do it?
You can search for the link to the Cap1 upgrade page, but I do not believe it works anymore. I know that others found a work around for checking online after they took the link down. Maybe someone who remembers what to add to the URL will chime in. Maybe you can search for that info if you would like. I would take the extra 5-10 minutes to actually call and speak to a CSR. There are times that you will not be offered the upgrade online and the CSR is actually able to offer it to you over that phone. With my own card, it stated no PC options were available to me when I tried the online upgrade option. I called CS and they had my card PCd within a matter of a few minutes. Why not go the route with a higher chance of success and just pick up the phone.
I only have about a month and a half left to go so I might as well just wait it out.
Yes, as this is literally the only choice you have. If you try and PC before the 181 day window opens, it will not be entertained as an option.
@rgd51, as mentioned above, the upgrade link can have its quirks from time to time. To check eligibility, visit the following link to view the steps:

What do you think the odds are that I will be able to PC the V1 to the QS on May 22 which will be 6 months since I PCed the QS1 to the V1?
In all reality, it doesn't matter what anyone thinks your odds are; your success depends if you meet whatever CapOne check boxes established for your profile.
I will say that If you can vastly expand your timeline to Years vs Months, then this may help reset your expectations to be more conservative.
Good luck.
