@Creditaddict wrote:I would suggest First National Bank of Omaha for secured card.... they will consider you for unsecured after 15 months... you could probably apply sooner and they offer SP CLI every 4-6 months it is for unsecured card holders according to posts on here!
Do you Have a link for them? do they require you to have an account with them in order to have a secured card with them?

I just learned from Guinness56, that it IS possible to have liens in CA removed if they are paid.
....'once a lien has been levied, you can petition the court to remove it once the debt has been resolved. The easiest way to remove it is to file a motion to expunge in small claims court and show documentation the taxes have been paid in full.'
I'm racing to Small Claims Court!Wow! if this is true, i will follow up with it! I just got notification from FICO.com, that, because i am having something investigated on My equifax, my score just dropped 31 pts!! yikes!!! is that temporary?
If you disputed an OC account, certain aspects of that TL are removed from scoring and your score will go up or down. Once resolved, if nothing has changed, your score would go back to pre-dispute score.

That makes sense....it wasnt reporting as a collection, but it was a bad debt it was reporting under adverse actions. , i just want it to come off the report....not showing is better than showing with a past due balance!!!

Keep in mind that a high limit doesn't mean higher score. It all about utilization.
CAN YOU GIVE ME AN EXAMPLE OF UTILIZATION...
Credit Utilization is the amount of credit used divided by the credit limit.
ie: If you have a $1,000 credit limit, and use $300.00 of that limit, then your credit utilization is 30%.
300 used/ 1000 limit = .30 * 100(used to get percentage) = 30% credit utilization.
Hope that helps.

Thanks CS!
For optimal FICO score don't let more than 7%- 9% of your balance report to the bureaus. So from the example above, don't let more than $70 report from a limit of $1,000.
ok....so i should pay down the LOC ASAP??? i need to have a record of payments on my credit report, but my Utilization is 80%...maybe bring it to 40% to make it look better

Right, but if one has a secured card with a limit of $1,000 with the same amount of utilization of someone who has a secured card with a limit of $10,000, once the accounts age a year or two, the chances of the person with the $10,000 credit limit being approved for an unsecured card with a higher limit is a lot greater..

You are right..and i do intend on setting it up on auto pay from my credit union, so that I wont ever have to worry about a payment being made on the account
By December 2014, hopefully i will be able to go on a credit app spree.....#fingerscrossed
