Wal Mart CC Question

Hi everyone, sorry it has been a few months, we are in the process of moving, and I am sure you know how stressful that is. (By the way Orchard/HSBC is the worst company to change your address with, but thats another story.)

Anyway,  we have some old, old, appliances that are on their death bed... toaster, microwave, coffee maker, etc... after the move we were thinking of going to Wal Mart and getting some new appliances and donating these older ones to Goodwill.

So, honest opinions, is the Wal Mart card worth it? I see they offer a Discover, is that just as hard as a real Discover to get? Are there any rewards with a Wal Mart Discover?

Re: Wal Mart CC Question

Well, I think if you shop at Walmart often, mine as well get their cards and build credit with them. I didn't get approved for the discovercard but got the retail store instead. They said after 6 months of good payment history, you can request for an upgrade to discovercard. They are both on the same network so im sure they are willing to do product change. I would say store cards are good to build credit, though walmart APR is extremely high but I don't care about it. I pay it in full every month plus i only purchase at walmart only ONCE a month. I'm a dude so I dont shop that much I just use it to build credit...

Re: Wal Mart CC Question

Hey Pappy,

I got my WalMart cc in Dec. of 08. It's just the store cc, they gave me a limit of $650 to begin with and 4 months later I pushed the luv button and it's up to $775. The interest rate is not great but they do offer 0% for 12 months on purchases over $250. Plus many items are .97 cent shipping (this helps because I hate going into my local WalMart). Overall, it's been a decent card. Good luck!

Re: Wal Mart CC Question

I have the WalMart Discover (applied in store ,easier) was approved instantly

they pulled Equifax here in Tx

My score at the time was 733 the interest rate was kind of high but they did offer me 0% on purchases

over a certain dollar amount..(250 i think)

I just pay in full every month but you do get a small discount on gas purchased at WalMart as well

They started me with $1600 ...kind of low ...but since i pay in full not that bad and I'm sure it will

increase over time.
