Going off having the Sam's version for 4 years now and starting at 400 then 700 for several years and then 5700 and then 4 statements after 5700 going to 10K. Seems to be a science with GE. If i didn't get a statement they wouldn't budge online. Never really desired to talk to the call center people to ask for an increase.
I let a balance post of $5 on the second of this month. Tried the increase button online but said it was unable to process.
I kept thinking I would forget to pay, or forget to leave a balance in the next few months so I called the backdoor number, 877-379-8173 and requested 5k. He came back a few minutes later and said no problem. He asked if I was interested in a higher line but I didn't think it was necessary. Hopefully was a SP but if its a HP no biggie.
Congrats on the increase.
I wish they would enable autopay instead of having to go in every single month to make payments.
Your mileave may vary, as they say....
I applied for the Walmart Discover in late June/July in store. I was asked 7 days later via a letter to contact their Fraud Prevention unit. The verification didn't work right, but the credit analyst gave me a $500 limit. Since they'd turned me down repeatedly for their store card, I took the $500, if for nothing else than to stop being solicited for the card, and to get a true FICO score monthly.
It's October, and I've made a few purchases on the card, always paying it in full.
I called Credit Solutions and asked for a CLI. He asked how much, and I said I didn't know, but my Discover-branded Discover had recently been bumped up to $9200. (it had been $2500 at the time I received the WM-DC. Confirmed it was a soft pull, and I said why not $10k.
Two minutes later, Approved for the CLI from $500 to $10,000!
Very happy.
I applied online yesterday and got approved for $600.
This thread inspired me to call up the personal account number in the backdoor sticky. Rep confirmed it would be a soft pull, so I asked for 10k. He asked income, put me on hold for several minutes, and came back with $5000. SWEET!
