Walmart Pre-Approved Letter

Got this one in the mail today, and I'm on the fence. We're not really WalMart shoppers, but I'm thinking it would be good to have as an emergency card, maybe? The interest rate is still coming up 22.9%. I have no idea who they pull in the south for approvals. My scores have a wide gamut between them, despite the credit reports being identical.

I have an Amazon and a Children's Place card for retail. What say you, FICOForum gurus? Should I take it, or shred it? Is WalMart card all that and a bag of chips?

It does have the possibility to upgrade to the MasterCard version in the future. You don't see a lot of store cards that do... Personally I don't shop at Walmart either, so I have no desire to app for the card.

Re: Walmart Pre-Approved Letter

Yeah, that's kind of my thinking. I would use it if a tree fell on my house, but I can't see myself shopping there if I didn't have to. I'd almost rather have a Target card, I seem to find myself there more often than anything else.

The upgrade option is nice, but I'm still not sure I want to line Wally World's pockets...

This post sums it up-  Shred it and don't apply.

If you cannot see a legitimate need for it, then don't waste the hard pulls.

Don't be like so many of us in these forums and app for cards just because we can. I'm getting rid of a few of my comenity cards next year.

Eq: 609 Fico 8

Tu: 613 FIco 8

Ex: 626 Fico 8

I have 2 collections reporting and 2 old charges offs(1 was paid). I applied for Walmart maybe 3 times and the 3rd time I was approved just the other day.

I'm now in with Amazon $600, JCpennys $500, and Walmart $400 as of the past few days. Synchrony pulled the 2 CB's I mentioned.

Re: Walmart Pre-Approved Letter

Tried for a CLI on my Venture and was nicely rewarded. Wally World went into the recycling bin. I just can't see myself using it. I'd rather save my HP for the day a pre-approved Citi or Amex mailer shows up. Might as well dream big, right?
