Walmart credit solutions denial

I posted last week that I applied and was approved for a Walmart Discover even though I already had walmart store card. I received the card today with a 600 limit. The store card had a 3500 limit.

I called CS and asked them for an increase on the discover. No go. The store card is closed now.  Luc button in 4 mos I guess.

Weird. Did you state that you already had the store card at a 3.5k limit? Seems like Synchrony is tightening the strings a little.

Re: Walmart credit solutions denial

Yes. As a matter of fact I had to repeat that I wanted the discover increased and NOT the store card. I actually requested that the store card be closed. I don't need 2 Wally cards and I figured they would close it eventually

Re: Walmart credit solutions denial

Actually it makes sense because the Discover card can be used anywhere that takes Discover.  I imagine Walmart gets better terms from GE for the store card as opposed to the Discover - they have to pay Discover a fee and it can be used at Walmart's "competitors" that accept Discover.

I have "Sam's" credit and cant get the Walmart Mastercard so you are ahead of me in that respect.  Walmart wouldn't shut you down for Walmart credit and Walmart Discover - lots of people have that combo.

I sympathize. I was approved for the WM Discover a few weeks back. They only gave me $700 to start, and had to do a lot of recon just to get that. Other posters here say they only got $400 to start, also they had high limits on the store card too. I think they are stingy right now due to the turnover with Syncrony in August.

Re: Walmart credit solutions denial

I'm fine with it. We use the walmart card for little things and 15 cent discount on gas. Next quarter is the 5 pct cash back @ gas stations on the Chase Freedom card. At today's gas prices, that's a better deal right now. I will use the walmart discover for little things and the FICO and hit the button at the end of  October.

Re: Walmart credit solutions denial

How long did it take for your sams card to convert? Or did you start out with the discover/MC version?

My last statement was a Mastercard statement it cut about the 23rd.. The 19th of June the rewards went to Mastercard. My card is still on the Discover network until the new card gets here. But it's Mastercard as far as everything counts to Sam's credit card holders.
