Wamu pre- approval!!!!!!! Question

Hello,

I just received a Wamu pre-approval for up to $7500 credit limit, with 0% interest until 1/2009 and 9.9% after. Well i had an old Providian card a few years ago that i defaulted on, but paid in FULL.....No settlement. I was wanting to know if others could chime in and tell me their similar experiances. I think i read a few weeks ago someone got approved but when they tried for Wamu MC was denied for old Providian account. This is my very 1st decent offer ever. I have Tribute, Capital One and Hooters.

I had an old Providian account, changed to wamu of course. I had closed it before paying in full, but did pay in full and always on time. Last paid was in Aug 07. Fast forward to Jan 08, rec'd similar preapproval in mail, applied and approved for 3k cl. woohooo....I checked the WaMu MC preapproval that was mentioned on this forum. It had basically the same preapproval terms, app'd and rec'd a letter stating that because I had problems with my old account (Providian) they would not open a MC account for me.

I have no clue as to their reasoning. I'm good to go for the visa but denied the mc. In my case, they pulled Experian which at the time was around 620 in January.

Was it from getmyvisa.com... how are your TU and EX reports?

Ok did you post this a few weeks ago with your Wamu experiance? I remember something i read almost identical to yours!!! I was offered the Visa. I am starting to believe only the MC will flag on old Providian account. Wierd but may be the pattern with them.

I got preapprovals from wamu. Once I apply I did not get the card. It must be due to the old providian account.

Yes I did. I did in fact get the new WaMu visa in January, but denied for the mc due to old Providian account.

Ok i went for it.. Approved instantly with 2500 limit. My highest yet. Yippee

I got a pre-approval from Wamu last week (getmyvisa) and went online and it gave me the "2-4 week" message...So, not an instant denial and from what I've read this message usually means approved but the CL is pending.

Wonder if anyone else has had this same experience and how much your CL was once you got the card.

Right now, I have a Cap 1 $500, Hooters $500, Orchard $300, and Chevron $600....Cap 1, Orchard, and Chevron are 3 years old. One of these days I hope to be in "prime" land. I hope to have at least ONE card with more than a $500 limit.

Why haven't you asked for any CLI's on these cards???? It would improve your utilization.
