Wells Fargo Active Cash Upgrade

Not a new card but an upgrade from the Wells Fargo Platinum Card. This was the first card I got when I set out on my credit rebuilding journey close to 4 years ago in September.

Terms stay the same for me unfortunately: $400 credit limit at 18.99% APR. When I last asked for a credit increase they wanted to do another hard credit check which hits all three bureaus. I did this back in 2020 and I only got a $100 increase from $300. It is not worth the hard credit check IMO so I just sock drawer the card with a small purchase to keep the card active here and there.

Data Points:

EX: 702 as of 8/10

EQ: 657 as of 7/20

TU: 665 as of 7/20

Clean payment history since 2017 but my old credit history holds me back along with medical debt from 2014.

Congrats on the upgrade.

Do you have another 2% card in your lineup? If not, then using this card more frequently and paying regularly during the month, paying down prior to statement, could get you better rewards over time. That sort of heavy usage, payment, may also help at the time of your next CLI.

Re: Wells Fargo Active Cash Upgrade

I still have an old Wells Fargo Platinum. I have the option to upgrade it to the Active Cash but I'm hoping that Wells Fargo releases some other cards in the future that I can then PC this card to.

It's definitely nice to get 2% back over the nothing that I'm getting now from it but I have enough 2% options now that I'm going to try to hold off and see if they offer anything in the future that will better pair with my Propel card.
