Wells Fargo stopped taking apps for a decent card, the WF AmEx Propel, a while ago, but legacy clients were left in peace with a decent card, 3x rewards on virtually ALL travel (gas, parking, public transit, taxis, limos, tolls, campgrounds, trains, tolls, toll bridges), dining (restaraunts, fast food, vending machines, caterers, bakeries) streaming, eating in, and ordering out. Sadly, WF has finally decided that they will be discontinuing the card. I wish that they were converting it to a better card, or letting us choose. Maybe they will allow a PC?
Is this the same for everyone else? (The same card, no choice, same dates)
(Card number and balance redacted)
In-depth conversation since the announcement in April it was being nerfed:
Sorry for your closure.

Isn't nerfed when you make something lesser, not when you kill it entirely?
I know Autograph is 3x, but I'll have to see how all inclusive it is.
I wonder why they waited for me, or why I didn't know about the announcement before. I guess homebuying (and moving) occupied too much of my time and I missed it. Thanks.
" Wells Fargo now says the card will be discontinued entirely, even for existing users, starting Aug. 4, 2023. Current cardholders will be moved to the similar Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card or the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card, depending on their recent Propel usage."
Propel is done. No more. Nerfed.

But I think what @FalconSteve was questioning, and I agree, is, to me, nerfed means something's strengths are weekended. So, in CC terms, a particular credit card's perks are reduced or eliminated. But not the card itself is eliminated. I would say the WF Propel is being cancelled, not nerfed, per se. Nerfed might be if the Propel is still going to carry on but the 3X earn rate will be dropping to 2X.
At least that's how I look at it.

I agree (although substituting weakened for weekended, which could still be a useful term, going from daily driver to a weekend card!)
Several cards over time have been nerfed, then eventually discontinued (to create sadness for the oldies, Citi Forward). But this is a forced conversion from a card that has ceased to exist

The Autograph and the Propel are EXTREMELY similar though right, besides one being a Visa and the other being an AMEX? What made the Propel better than the Autograph? If anything to me a Visa is more widely accepted than AMEX.
I'm confused. The Autograph card has the exact same 3% earning structure and categories as the Propel, but adds an additional 3% on phone (mobile or landline) payments. For a card that touted no Foreign Transactions Fees, now having it on the VISA network means you can actually use the card and have it be accepted internationally. As an added bonus they removed redemption minimums with the Autograph card.
What's the downside I'm missing here?

This was my question/view too, unless the Propel previously had some other benefit I am unaware of or you don't have another amex card in your arsenal and want to have one for the occasional amex perk (Ticketmaster presale for example).

I agree. The Propel is being eighty-sixed.
