Posted a few weeks ago that I was trying to get a secured card form these guys. Turned down the first time for "poor performace with a wells fargo checking and or savings account." I disputed the information and and asked that the app be reviewed again. I called the backdoor number found here and talked with a credit analyst from Wells. He listened to what I had to say and immediately asked how I got his number, lol. I told him there were several numbers on the Wells home page and just took a chance. He took my information and said he would send the app directly to the underwriters. The next day, he called and said the app was declined due to "charge-off" on an old account (Wachovia) in the amount of $93.00. I told him I've had the same account number for 5 years and have no other accounts. I thanked him for all his help and told him I would be closing all my accounts and taking my business elsewhere. I have been reading other posts about the secured card from BoA so I may just give them a try.
so horrible.. unfortunately same exp here with BoA
It is too bad - sorry OP!
Wells could have taken that opportunity to turn things around for you - but - I guess they do not need your business. I hate it when banks operate like this.
Take your money and run.
Thanks to all for the responses. Not sure where I will go but I'm definitely taking the money out and moving on. I will either move to a local credit union or BoA. I already have 2 secured cards and was hoping for a 3rd with Wells. Will do some research on the secured card from BoA before moving forward.

Go to a CU, you won't be sorry!
+1 - a local CU will take very good care of you. They seem to "value" their members...
Bah. I hope they don't close my CC when I close my bank account with them in a couple months that I opened only to get a CC with them.

No real reason to close it with online access, you can get at the money at pretty much any time.
Lender underwriting and products change all the time, and WF might lose the branch lodged in one of their anatomical body parts someday. Even BOFA who has completely irritated me with their checking circus lately, I won't close the account as I might want something more from them in the future.

Thats the goal I had in mind with Wells. Was looking to build some solid credit with them with the card while I worked to improve my scores. Once high enough, hopefully apply for a mortgage with them. Other than being denied for the secured card, I haven't had any other issues with them.
