We just opened a CC in Wells Fargo in my wife's name, and added me as an authorized user. I decided to set up autopay, and it seems that Wells Fargo does not allow me to add a checking account that does not belong to my wife (there you need to check the box that says "the account belongs to me"). It is a little strange, because I pay my wife's BoA, Citi, US Bank CCs from my checking account, and there were no such requirements anywhere.
Question: are there any options? In our family, I handle the finances, so it's very convenient for me to pay all our CCs from my checking account. If I am an authorized user, can I check this box when adding an external account (that the account belongs to me)?
What happens if you leave the box unchecked?
The 'Continue' button is greyed out.

You could set up pushing the funds from your WF checking with billpay.

Unfortunately, I do not have a WF checking, it's in the other bank.

You can "push" the payments from anywhere you have a checking account.
It's dumb that they would require her ownership of the account, when it's just a payment account. It's not like you're using it for transfers or anything.

I'm sure it would go through if he did that. WF is not going to check. But then OP or his wife could be accused of having made a misstatement. It isn't worth it.
