Hello everyone,
I just filled a chapter 7, and I haven't been discharged as of yet since my court date is in February. I burned them for about $2500 on my WellsFargo business credit card in my chapter 7. Will I be able to apply for a unsecured or secured credit card with WellsFargo in the future? They didn't close my checking account either. Thank you in advance for any insights in this.
Since you have not been closed yet ... the other shoe may drop? Food for thought?
Since my business BK Wells Fargo has never given me any unsecured credit. Today I am glad there are many fish in the sea!
@Anonymous Have you tried to pay them back what you owed? And my business didn't go bankrupt per say, but I had to include the card within the bankruptcy.
I will answer the checking part of the question only. I would say it depends on how much is in the account as to what happens. when i filed bk7 2 plus years ago my attorney advised me to close any exsisting bank accounts and open new ones in other banks because a creditor i was burning could seize an account. I closed td bank because i had a nice balance there and also a dd. I totally forgot i had a checking at chase that was decades old but with peanuts in it. i burned chase for over 20k.
Chase never touched that checking, i still use it today because it has no fees.
The td bank account i did close and move to another bank.
So i guess a bank may grab your accounts when you burn them but only if its worth it for them.
