OK guys... So the invited to apply means it's a absolutely a pre approval or pre qualify?
Thanks again

I don't think that is what people were saying (well, depending what you mean by preapproval etc!)

Basically there is a spectrum.    At the lowest level, you see an ad on a billboard.   If you apply, you may or may not get the card.

At the highest level there is a preapproval with a single APR and if you apply you are quite likely to be approved (unless there has been a negative change in your credit record).

Everything in between means passing some level of marketing filters, but at the lowest levels, including "invited to apply"(which of course you can do without an invitation) might mean little more than you are in the right demographic and so the chance of acceptance is not usefully more than a cold app.

Re: Wells Fargo invited to apply.

It says you're welcome to apply
For the visa platinum balance transfer card.
0 APR for the first 18 months.
It has a reservation number attached which leads one perhaps to belive it's a pre approval or pre qualified.
I thought it immediatly MYSELF like a dumb Bo. it sells itself exactly like a pre approval. My numbers are OK (listed in op)
So I'd probably get it. However I am smart enough to inquire. Some aren't. The reservation number throws ya off because typically you get those numbers on pre approvals or pre qualify cards.
I read the fine print. Nothing any different than what I have received for pre approval. Exact same wording as with any other "certified " pre approval in the mail.
This is what made me think
"Hmm why a...you're welcome to apply " with all the exact same issue you'd get from a pre approval,
but without it actually saying
"You're pre approved or pre qualified "
It's odd and I think there was a zero inquiry myself.
I personally think it's a marketing scheme and I would have for anyone to not know the difference.
It's why I asked for advise.
Unless Wells changed the wording on pre approval invitations I wouldn't do it myself.

Re: Wells Fargo invited to apply.

The thing with marketing is sometimes it does work. You just have to know your profile and if the card works for your spend, it might be worth a shot. One thing i get from a mailer, which i never receive lol, is that at least it puts you on a lenders radarSmiley Happy
