I want to eventually get a Discover card (Probably the IT card, mostly for cash back and maybe balance transfer..if the SL is good). Does anyone (who was recently approved for a new card) know what FICO model they use (i.e. FICO 8 TU, FICO 9, FICO 9 Card, etc.). I want to know exactly what score I'm working with prior to applying. Many thanks in advance!
Hey there,
I was recently approved and they pulled Equifax for me in Florida. Not sure if it was Fico 8, Fico 8 Bankcard or Fico 9 however. I think you only get the letter telling you which model if you're declined, right?

Decline letters do not say what model is used. It is the Fico 8 basic model that they use to approve and maintain your account at this point in time/
Keep in mind that even though Discover may only HP one bureau for an application, they could very well be soft pulling at least one of not your other two reports. This is true of anyone really, not just Discover. So yes it is good to know what score they are most likely to pull for the app, but it's important to recognize that potential lenders have the ability to see the information on all 3 of your credit reports even if you only see a HP on one.
04-14-2019, I Had just got approved for The it Card SL $8200, I have had a Chrome for 4-5 years.
They HP'd Experian, as @BrutalBodyShots Referenced, They soft pulled Either TU or EQ (I will have to go back and look)
I Think More Lenders HP one and soft pull Another more than people realize, because most people never check their SP's
and they dont get notifications for those.
I do not know what SCORE Model They used.(My Gues FICO8 or 9 - maybe bankcard ver., i am unsure)
I was about EX 712 Score at the Time with 12/12 & 17/24 Inqs. (7 Just Turned 1 year yesterday)
