I have had a Chase Slate card since 2005 but haven't used it in many years. Instead of closing the card, I just cut it and through it away years ago. I am very surprised that Chase hasn't closed it through these years.
Anyways, in the last week I opened 3 new CC's and will probabely open another 1-2, which means that my AAoA is going to take a hit. Chase CSR told me that I can only PC to Freedom, but I already have the card. What would you say are some of my better options with this card to minimize the demage it can do to my credit report/score?
Additionally, if I am to keep this card, I need to get a replacement. Chase told me that the only way they can do that is if they report the old one lost/stolen and issue me a new one. What effect will this have on my Credit report?
Thanks
Transfer the limit to your Freedom and close the Slate.

That would hurt AAoA. id email the EO or maybe try pcing the freedom to something else and then pc the slate to freedom.

I just opened the Freedom. Don't you have to wait 12 months to PC to somthing else? I have my eye on CSP, but I wouldn't want to PC to CSP and loose bonus.
I'm thinking about moving my slate limit to my marriot card as well, just not sure if I want to do it yet.

Why would it hurt AAoA when it stays on report for 10 yrs? It would affect util. That's it.
You are correct! im sorry haha must have slipped my mind. anyways you could app for the CSP and transfer the limit.
App for the CSP, then transfer your limit from the Slate to Freedom / CSP in whatever denomination you choose and close the Slate.
You won't take an AAoA hit for closing Slate. You will, however, for opening a new account. But AAoA concerns shouldn't really be serious unless you're crossing specific thresholds (2 / 5 / 10 / 20 yrs) and have a need for optimal scoring.

A replacement card won't affect your credit.
Since you've already applied for a Freedom, I would keep both the Slate and new Freedom open for now. I would move the CL and close the new Freedom after applying for the CSP. Then ask for a PC from Slate to Freedom. That's the more complicated option.
A simpler option would be to close Slate, move the CL to Freedom, then app for CSP. Your score may take a temporary hit for inquiries/new accounts, but closing the Slate card won't affect your AAoA for another 10 years.
PC it to a second Freedom if they'll let you. Transfer some of the limit if you want to app for CSP, but I don't see why you should close it unless you are against having a card SDed.
