What card to get next after Discover?

Hey guys I just made a post similar to this one so I apologize in advance but I couldn't get a clear answer,

My first credit card Discover just graduated after 7 months and my credit score is now showing to be 730

Im looking for a new card to get. What is the recommened card i want to make my credit score higher, more CL,  and just overall better.

From what i understand this journey should lead to Chase Sapphire or Amex Plantinum and above

Thank you

Discover Secured Graduated, Credit Experts What do you recommend?

Hey guys,

My Discover Secured graduated and Im getting my deposit back as well as a credit limit increase.

My credit score is 730

Do you think a chase card would be a good idea right now? I'm working towards a high level card like Sapphire or Amex

Any answer is greatly appriecated

Chase and AMEX tend not to like thin files (accounts with Less then a year of history) ...

I would honestly wait til your just over the year mark with your histrory before you go for those 2 to increase your chances ...

Capital One is a little more forgiving in this area.... If any of those cards interest you

Welcome to the myFICO forums!

How many tradelines or credit cards, loans do you have reporting to your credit bureau files?

Welcome to My Fico.  000Welcome.gif

Have you tried the Chase prequal site? https://www.chase.com/prequalified

If no joy, AMEX and CapOne both have prequal sites as well.

Good Luck!

A tradeline is a creditor account listed on your credit bureau file. In my humble opinion, I would apply for a Capital One Platinum card. If they turn you down, then I would use the money Discover refunded you and apply for a secured Captial One Card. Capital One is a great starter card, however, you will be bucket limited, meaning you will never grow the credit line into a large amount.

As you can see on my signature line, Captial One is my starter card.

I agree.... Check the prequal sites and if no offers show I would just sit tight and continue doing what your doing and revisit applying once your history is a bit longer....(Unless you find a Capital One card you like)

Your obviously doing a good job if discover graduated you in 7 months Smiley Happy....
