just trying to get some insight on the venture card before I apply in december(yes I am thinking ahead of time)
So for those of you that have a venture or venture one card what do you enjoy most about the card? Why did you choose the card and what benefits do you enjoy??
Went on a app spree last summer in which I applied for the Venutre. I enjoyed the sign up bonus and got a 15k SL. At the time my highest starting line which I really felt paved the way for my future cards to get higher SL. To date I was able to get the card to 19k CL
The card rarely sees much use anymore but I do like the fact that capital one sends me balance transfer offers every month for the card at 0% for 18 months if I ever need it. I think eventually I may just roll over this limit to a quicksilver card I have and call it a day.
Good luck when you apply.

Pro: high credit line. Can get multiple bonus.
Stable lender, not easily spooked
Con: not a real travel card. 3HP for application. 59AF. Not much on going benefits
They advertise it as a travel card but I keep hearing that its not really that great with travel. Makes me very confused.
I closed it when I closed all of my Cap-1 cards, better cards out there and you don't have to deal with Cap-1.... but that's just me

1. Esthetically the nicest card I have
2. Large starting limit
3. Points can be used for infinite number of discount travel options
4. Points can also be used for cash at 1:1 rather than 2:1.
5. Keep getting good balance transfer offers, choice of interest-free or fee-free.
6. No foreign transaction fee.
7. Modest annual fee.
8. No hassle company which doesn't care what you do as long as you pay your bills on time.
9. Easy to combine with other Cap One accounts.
10. Free Vantage 3.0 updated weekly provided

2%, no ftf, 100K bonus and annual fee waiver (for the past several years, anyway).
The Venture card is a "Travel card" purely in the sense that you redeem your "miles" towards the cost of tickets, hotels, car rentals, etc...
The way it works is you purchase your airline ticket (or hotel), paying for it all up front with your card. After it posts to your account, you can then apply your miles to "redeem" the purchase.
This is how they can say that there are no black out dates - Because Capital One is not the agency arranging the flights, you are.
The 40,000 points sign up bonus is roughly $400 worth of redeemable travel expenses.
And as someone else alreaedy pointed out, you can redeem the miles for cash, but only for a 1:1 rate instead of the 2:1 rate. So the 40,000 points becomes $200 redeemable cash.
