I applied for DISCOVER credit card and I got approved online immediately.
However, my card was locked by Discover when I was trying to make a purchase on Bestbuy.com .
Discover said they needed to verify my identification. Seriously? Why Discover didn't do that before it issued the card to me.
So I faxed my ID ,social security number card and utility bill as told to Discover from Staples.
Guess what!!!! They said my ID was too dark to read. And asked me to fax again.
I did increase 2 levels of the brightness and faxed again to Discover.
Am I being cursed???
Discover told me my ID on the second fax was still too dark to read. And asked me to fax AGAIN!!!!!
Firstly, why does Discover do things backward? Issue the card first and verify identification later? Non-sense!!!!
Secondly, who use fax in 2018?!!! What is your real purpuse of keeping saying "it was too dark to read" AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN??
DISCOVER, what do you really want from me?
See if you can reach out to Customer Service or the EO dept. (number can be found on the backdoor #'s thread). It might be easier to take a picture and email or upload then to fax. I know a friend that had to do that and was told to fax but he refused, stated that he doesn't feel comfortable sending a fax from a store. He called EO and was able to upload the file directly and they resolved the ID issue.
That's what I would try. Best of luck!
Thanks for your reply. I did think about enlarge my ID but I was afraid they may say I alter the size of my ID or I made an fake ID. But i'll try to do it if they kept saying " it is too dark to read".
It does make me feel they want to close my card.
thanks for sharing~ I would try this idea~

As suggested earlier, you should call customer support or the E.O. (Executive Office) and explain the problem. You might be able to get your card activated without having to send in ID if you can answer ID verification questions over the phone - that's what they did for me in March when I got my new Discover IT, they wanted two forms of ID to verify, I sent them one and was going to send the other as soon as I could locate it and make a copy but they called me and after I verified my identity they approved the card.
Could you tell me where I can find the EO number??
What about emailing a pic of everything using the camera on your phone? Then just email the clear color picture/s to CS using your email for which they probably have on file when you signed up for the card?
thanks. I just called, they verified my infomation and just said it stared an investigation on my case right now.
