Re: What is GEMB's issue?

I just got a card from them a couple weeks ago using my cell phone number only. I'd be very annoyed to be in your position.

I just had my GEMB/ Walmart account frozen for security concerns ie: "Using a cell phone account as my contact #" after I had and account with them for 4 years. lol. They told me to send them a copy of my home phone service bill to reinstate the account.

Re: What is GEMB's issue?

I have four GEMB accounts:

Walmart

Lowe's

Old Navy

Amazon.com -----> opened today

All I have is a cell phone, and it's not even in my name, it's a second line on my GF's account. I've had this for a few years. GEMB has never questioned me about anything, phone line or not. All my apps have been online. I've lived at my address for 5+ years, etc. Maybe something on your report(s) triggered the extra security? Recent or frequent address change, etc?

Re: What is GEMB's issue?

Is there a phone # on your reports? If an old home # is listed not matching a cell, could that possibly trigger further verification?

Not exactly. This is a well established issue. Nothing new here.

There are other ways to verify your identity.
