What is RECON?

I have read a few posts where people mention RECON, usually when they are denied some sort of credit or loan. Can someone please help me understand what that means and how it may be useful to me if I have been denied credit?

Thanks In Advance!Smiley Wink

(P.S.. I love this forum, people have taught me so much and it is such a blessing to me. I cannot imagine where my credit would stand without this forum. Whenever I have a question about anything related to credit, I come here first because I know that I will get a ton of information from people who know first hand. It's an absolute joy to have access to this forum. THANKS EVERYONE Heart!)

Recon is short for Reconsideration.. If you are denied a Credit Card you can call a Recon line and try and get yourself approved by talking with a credit analyst who will review your credit report, ask you questions etc..

Sounds like a military term doesn't it?   It means reconsideration.

Oh I see, that makes sense now. Golly, I wish I had of known that before Smiley Surprised But it's good to know now. Do you usually call the "backdoor" numbers for recons? Or do you simply ask a rep to send you to a credit analysist? Just wondering in case I have to do it in the future.

Lol, yes it does. Reminds me of the scene on Toy Story with the little army men attempting to see what the special birthday gift was.

On the Backdoor Sticky, there is a list of telephone numbers. There's usually no "right" number to call. It depends on the CCC.

This is the time you get to sweet talk a credit analyst and give your best american idol explanation as to why you deserve this credit card!
