@Anonymous wrote:I keep hearing that Discover is generous with CLIs, which may be encouraging me to be fast and loose with the LUV button, but I really like discover and the 4th quarter bonus categories are great for my christmas shopping and I want a higher limit to use. Here's my history- Discover was only my 3rd account, and I was in the low 600's when they approved me in June '16, $1200 SL. In September I pulled the LUV button and got a measly $500, so $1700 total. Since then I've cleaned up my credit and opened a bunch (ok, too many) new accounts, so I assume this is what is spooking them. I've pulled it numerous times, and without hesitation I get a "Sorry we cannot approve your credit limit increase request at this time." message. I haven't gotten the letters to explain it. My latest TU score on their site is 778. They're not soft pulling anything when i hit the LUV button, and only SP TU for the monthly FICO update. So something on my account is flagging it as "NO INCREASE". Is it just the time? Could it be something else?
Here's my list of accounts:
AMEX PRG - opened 09/16 - no balance
AMEX ED - Opened 09/16 - no balance- 2000 limit
Capital one VO - Opened 09/2015 - no balance - 5500 limit
Chase FU - Opened 04/2016 - $1051 balance (will be PIF) - 6000 limit
Chase CSP- Opened 08/2016 - 5000 limit
Citi DC - opened 09/2016 - $50 bal - 10,000 limit (50 was an accident)
Comenity Ulta - Opened 10/2016 0 bal 750 limit, never used (only opened because of "lack of experience with retail cards" listed on another denial- that could be a whole other thread
Discover - Opened 06/2016, $1700, no balance, use frequently and pay off multiple times a month
FNB Omaha Amex - Opened 08/16 - no balance, $3,000 limit (useless card, planning to close)
Penfed Rewards - Opened 10/16 - $76 balance (accident), $17,000 limit
Wells Fargo Rewards- Opened 10/16 - no balance - $6000 limit
So....I went on a spree and now have too many cards...So do I just quit CLI'ing? I have no derogs, one car loan, all accounts in good standing.
PS AMEX denied my 90-day CLI also. I've spooked them somehow. I'm not surprised by AMEX though, because they denied my apps several times before finally letting me in.
I'll take any other advice also, if you see what I'm doing wrong.
Amex is very specific... you need to wait 90 days from any Amex CLI denial, or 6 months from any Amex grant of a CLI.
