So, I think I made a mistake with opening two Navy secured cards that converted as most people get higher limits when they apply for their second card, maybe I should have just gotten one secured card and appled later for a regular card, none the less, not sure what to do.
I have two Navy cards, flagship at 10k limit, started out at 5k secured, then I got a 2500.00 increase and moved 2500.00 from my Amex to my Flagship so that is how my limit is 10k
I don't use the Amex at all as the limit is too low. I put about 6k through my Flagship and PIF monthly, cards have been open both about 1 year.
My Amex is sitting at 500.00 limit, I have tried to get a CLI and I always get the reply I have reached the maximum unsecured limit.
Here are some qusetions:
Should I transfer the 500.00 CL from the Amex to the Flagship and close the Amex so I have only one card or let the Amex grow ?
Should I wait a few months and ask for a CLI on the Amex ?
My Ch 7 BK discharge is turning one year old on 5/18/21 so I was going to apply for card # 3 a month after, with the hope I get approved, in the past I got declined stating bankruptcy or I had reached navy's maximum unsecured limit as declined reasons. It is my hope my discharge being 1 year old, officially, and my running 28k through my Navy checking account in one month might make a difference.
My EQ Fico 9 on the Navy site is 726
Thank you for any advice
You might not be able to transfer the credit limit over. Best bet is to either close the Amex and apply for another card (hoping for a big limit) or try for another CLI in 3-6 months.
Hmmm, this is a tough one, but definitely an opinion based question. So if it were me, I'd leave the secured open for a bit and stand pat. As the BK discharge gets older, you should qualify for cards from several other lenders based on your wants. Navy is always gonna be there imho, so once you can get it to graduate, it should grow. They are legendary with subsequent SL's on new apps so there's that also. 😉

I think you should just lay low and be happy with what Navy has given/allowed you considering such a fresh bk. In time you'll be able to dictate better terms if you choose but having a fresh bk doesnt give you alot of bargaining power. Lots of people with bk who cant even get 1 Navy card. Just my average 🐧
