What to do with my CSP?

What do I do with my CSP (AF will hit in Feb)?
This is my rewards strategy:

BCP - gas with gift cards and groceries
Arrival World - everything else
CSP - What to do with it?

I don't see the need for my CSP anymore, I'm thinking on just PCing to the regular sapphire and thrown in the socks drawer.
Anyone have a better idea?

Facts to consider:
CSP represents 30% of my total CL
AAOA 1.7yr

Thanks!

Re: What to do with my CSP?

if you don't need it, just PC it to sapphire / freedom.

Re: What to do with my CSP?

With so little to go on, it's difficult to say, but:

If your CSP represents 30% of your credit line, you may want to consider whether the hit to your utilization ratio and AAoA isn't worth the extra 26-cents per day that it would cost you to just keep it (at least for a couple more years).

Besides: the card is made of metal - which has been quite handy for scraping the ice from my car's windshield.  Smiley LOL Smiley Wink

How will it affect his AaoA/Utilitization ratio if he just PC's it to Freedom/Sapphire? Everything should stay the same....?

Will Chase CLD you if you downgrade to the regular Sapphire or Freedom?

No, lots of people do this.  The card just becomes the new product with the same CL.

Just remember that you cannot transfer your points to airlines/hotels with just Sapphire or Freedom, so if you had any such plans, do that before PCing

Re: What to do with my CSP?

I was pretty much in your situation last October.  In the end, I just downgraded the card and it's currently being sock-drawered.  I couldn't justify the $95 annual fee either. The standard sapphire still has some nice beneifts, but it just hasn't grown with me.  I suspect it may get closed at some point in the future if I don't do it first; I don't really care honestly.   I'm more focused on letting my accounts age now and acquiring maybe one more low apr card in the near future.

Given that it's 30% of your total CL's it would probably be better if you could PC to a card that you could actually use.  That is, unless you want to guarantee that 30% of your total CL's are always free -- in which case SD'ing would be better.  Better always depends on one's specific goals and priorities.

Would the rotating 5% on the Freedom be of any benefit to you without the ability to transfer UR points?

It wouldn't.  The post you quoted was basically saying "consider the benefit of retaining your CL and AAoA versus the cost of the AF.  PC was not in the scope of the post you're replying to.

Re: What to do with my CSP?

I know it wouldn't.. the post that was made, made no sense. Sapphire by itself has double points on dining right? So maybe allocate small CL to Sapphire for dining and move the rest of CL over to Freedom and transfer UR points to one account... while just utilizing the card for whatever best value it should be used for.

OP, what were you thinking about doing?
