Only thing I can think of is, if you transfer MR to BA Avios when there is a transfer bonus ( so far happening each year), you can get AA non-stop flight within US at or above 2C per MR. Same with transferring to Virgin for some Delta direct flight (check virgin website yourself to see if your route can be booked).
I don't know how much impact that will have on your math though. Anyway, cancel or not, it is always a great idea to ask for retention offer!
Everybody's gotta run their own numbers.
Some can't use all or part of the travel credit. Some can't use all or part of the dining credit. Some value MR points higher. Some lower. Some spend a lot at restaurants and grocery stores. Some don't. Some will use this as a travel card. Some won't. Some will take advantage of the $100 Hotel Collection credit (for 2 night stays). Some won't.
So figure what you benefit per year from having the Gold card. I assume it's more than $250, so you are making some profit.
Then figure what you would net on groceries, restuarants and travel with a different set up.
Compare the two and go with the higher value.

LOL, yup I can't wait to get that card! Once I get it, that will be my dinning and grocery card.
The strategy around using an airline card like an AMEX Delta or a Citi AAmerican as a daily driver is something the "experts" frown upon but isn't necessarily bad.
For the AF of the AMEX Platinum for example one could have the Delta, American, United, JetBlue and Southwest Cards while still paying less. If you factor in these cards often times come with perks which pay for themselves. Bags round trip for 2 people run you $120 which you need if you are going anywhere for more than 4 nights.
If you have to spend a lot eating out to make that AMEX Gold work then it might not be worth it. You could consider PCing the card to an AMEX Green which has 3x transit categories and a lower AF of $150. That might be the way I'd go as a compliment to what you have already and in case you want to book travel on your personal cards instead of business cards.

That's why I got it. I want them to gasp when I pull it out at McDonald's. Then I watch them handle it gingerly because they're afraid to drop it because it's metal. #DYKWIA

I've been thinking about this for a couple months.
Now that i have other rewards cards esp BBP, and my HiltonHilton cards i will get much less value.
I value Membership rewards at about 1.3 cpp.
Since i Hold citi aadvantage ps, and DW has Delta Gold the 100$ airline credit has become basically useless for me. I can check bags with those two cards.
Another reason is i get lounge access with Hilton biz card.so i couldn't even use the credit for that.
Ive done the math, and it would make sense to close it or hopefully get a retention offer.
Instead of 4x MR's at restaurants i could use sams club get 3%, Hilton biz get 6x or about 3% cb.
I have two Discover cards that i could just use to buy Grocery store, and visa gift cards basically every quarter. 5, and 10%cb.
The only category id miss slightly is the 4x at supermarkets but i get about 3% cb with other cards.
The Travel for gold card is only good for airline purchases or straight from the low value amex portal.
Plus ill get 6 Hilton points for travel wich includes more travel rewards opportunity since dont have to book through amex portal. Or 3% cb with my Sam's club Mastercard.
Plus i think it makes sense to have my Dw open a gold card if i close mine(since with sub the first year is much more profitable).
I have found it to be cheaper to buy alot of things one would buy at grocery stores online especially for my almost 2 year old son.
Am i missing anything huge that would make sense to keep the card?
Edit My wife was recently approved for the everyday card so if she swipes the card enough that would be a little bit more than 2x MR's
I had the card for a little more than a year, and didn't value the card much because I was paying a $250 annual fee, and constantly striving to use up my credits to justify the fee. I.e. I was working for them, rather than them working for me.
And then one day they declined a $3100 charge because I hadn't spent that much in the past.
At which point I closed it without a moment's hesitation.
