When BOA declines an application...?

I called BOA again for my second try at a recon. The Credit Analysis told me that with my collections and short account history, he could not approve the card I applied for.
He did say that they sent me an offer for the secured card.

Here is the question, is this the 99/500, or is there a chance it could be fully secured?

Either way, I am taking the card.

He didn't seem to know which card it was. Since I read on here that they usually counter a decline with the 99/500 I am hopeful that is what this is.

any one have any thoughts?

Re: When BOA declines an application...?

It could be either of the two. Either way you will be on track for an unsecured card from a prime issuer if you treat the card well. A secured card is also scored the same as an unsecured card, so it will help you just as much in FICO scoring.

Enjoy your new card when you get it!

The secured card may seem like a booby prize, but in the long run you won't regret it.

Re: When BOA declines an application...?

No doubt, I will take any card they are willing to give me. I wish I would have tried to get a secured card from them before, or any one else for that matter. I could have been building history all this time. My pride and being an idiot got in the way, I used to think: "I'm not going to pay for a secured card, whats the point?"

After doing some research, I answered my own questions in my original post.
I have two more though.

Is it a guaranteed hard inq once they send me the invite?

There is still a chance they can do another hard INQ and decline me once again huh?

That would be perfect! 2 inq and no new card!

Re: When BOA declines an application...?

I just got my card about a week ago. It took a total of about 2 weeks from sending a check and getting the card. Its faster if you open an account with them. I opened 2 after I sent my orginal check.

Yes, they did pull another credit report from experian when they got my check. When I saw the pull I called and they told me I was getting the card.

Re: When BOA declines an application...?

I just applied for the BoA Platinum Visa.  I knew the application would get denied, but I was praying for the partially secured 99/500 card.  And it was offered, immediately.

And I accepted, immediately.
And they immediately took the money out my account
And I hope I get my card immediately
So I can max it out immediately...just kidding, I've learned my lesson about maxing CCs.
