My first statement just closed on my new AMEX Gold yesterday. Can someone explain when my points will post? I only see a very small amount of them pending? The only other AMEX card I have is the AMEX Delta Gold and my Skymiles post usually withn a day to my Skymiles account. I know MR points are different, but still a little bit confused.
From Amex's website word by word
When you earn Membership Rewards® points from spending with your Card, they initially appear on your billing statement as "pending." These are available for use a full monthly billing cycle after you pay the amount due on your billing statement, as long as your account remains current.

long story short they make you wait an extra billing statement compared to say Citi.. Or Cap1 points post when you charge posts. Probably one of the biggest pet peeve's about AMEX people have is the delay
Thank you for the clarification on how it works!
I think the points from your first statement are delayed until your second statement but after that they should be available as soon as the statement posts. Sign up bonuses usually post a day or two after meeting the spend requirement.

Signup bonuses, retention bonuses, and Amex Offers usually show up 1 or 2 days after the charges are finalized. Normal spending (including category bonuses that are part of the card's normal earning structure) will always post a day or two after the following statement has closed. i.e. If your statement period is from September 4th to October 3rd, the points earned from those charges will be pending until a day or two after your November 3rd statement closes.
You can always hop on chat and ask for your pending MR points to be accelerated. As long as you’ve paid your statement then you shouldn’t have too much trouble getting them to push your points through. As with most things credit related, YMMV.
This is true, I did this before closing my BCP and moved limits to BCE, was expecting to lose my pending cashback when the CSR told me it can be accelerated, applied to balance and waited a few day to post before making the final payment to zero out the account.
