When does my statement cut?

I just opened a new credit card with Cap1. On the app it tells me this: Your first payment will be due by April 16th. We'll let you know the minimum amount after March 18th. So does this mean my statement cuts on March 18th? I really need to know because I want to pay off my balance before the statement cuts. Is that correct?

That's the way it reads to me. Depending on where you are, it could already be pretty darn close to 3/18. I'd make a payment!

I just posted a payment to pay off the balance but it would only allow me to choose the 18th of March for payment to post. I guess this 1st statement will be trial and error. Now I know better
