I was approved for the Amex BCP on Jan 3rd. When am I eligible to go for the CLI? Date of approval or date of activation? Thanks!
I think it is since activation date.
Most people have said it's from the date of activation. It's not 100%, but better safe than sorry, since there's a 90-day wait to try again. ![]()
Thanks! I've read so many post on this subject and they don't all concur. I think you are right.... better safe then sorry. I'll wait another 8 days. ![]()
Let us know how it goes, I'll be in the same position in about 70 days.
Just wanted to add my experience to the hive mind:
Approval Date: 01/28
Activation Date: 02/03
3x CLI: 03/29 (61 days after Approval Date)
My second statement closed 03/27, PIF on 03/28, and payment posted to acct today. So the CLI was approved with no outstanding balances.
Unrelated Gripe: 2 statements paid-in-full so far and my BCE rewards from month 1 still haven't posted yet. W.T.F. AmEx! Not sure if this is normal or not...?
AMEX is notoriously slow about posting your rewards. It usually happens after 2-3 statements. Why? Because they can.
The CLI luv button doesn't show up on my online AMEX account (under 'manage credit limit'), which is less than a month old, but it does show up for my wife's account (even though she successfully used it for a 3X CLI a couple weeks ago). I assume that the button will 'magically' appear when the account has aged enough to request a CLI... hopefully at 61 days from approval (which was two weeks before activation).
I asked 62 days after activation, just to be on the safe side and since I was in no hurry.

I would say activation to be on the safe side.
