When should I ask for a CLI on these?

Greetings All!

When is the best time to ask for a CLI on the following CC’s:

PenFed Power Cash Rewards $17k (7 months old) increased upon card arrival

Chase FU $4500 (7 months old)

BBVA $16K (5 months old)

WF Propel Amex $15.5K (2 months old)

USB Cash+ Visa Sig $14K (2 months old)

Also, with WF how long should I wait before app’ing for a 2nd product?

I also have a green check mark offer for a CSP in my Chase acct online. I’m going into the bank to open a savings acct this week and see at the same time if I can get around LOL/24 with a banker. Any thoughts on this?

As long as your profile supports it, you should be fine to ask whenever you are ready for the PenFed and Chase cards.

If you have a green check mark offer with a specific APR in your Chase account that only asks for income and housing payment, that bypasses 5/24.  I got 2 cards that way last year being LOL/24 and DW got another being over 5/24.  My only suggestion would be to make sure that CSP and not CSR is right for you, as you'd need to wait a year to product change.  CSR now populates as a green check mark offer; if you don't have it, perhaps you could talk to your banker to see if there is an offer for you that bypasses 5/24.

Re: When should I ask for a CLI on these?

Thank you

It does have a single rate not a range, but it is asking for total gross annual income and my cell phone number.

It comes with a SUB that is a $4k spend in 90 days for 50k points.

When I appd in January they pulled EX and TU, which now have 6 INQ's and 2 INQ's

I am taking advantage of there savings acct deal but since I am already a checking customer. I'm hoping I don't get a double pull for savings or the CSP

I don't think Chase pulls for savings accounts, but the CSP would certainly be at least a single (if not double) pull.  That sounds like a solid 5/24-bypassing green check mark offer to me!

Re: When should I ask for a CLI on these?

I'd plan on Chase doing another EX/TU double-pull. I had those bureaus pulled for me when I first applied for my card. When I requested a CLI, it was the same double-pull.

I asked a second-tier rep about the pulls, and she prefaced what she told me by saying "we're still trying to figure that out." She said that from the observations of the people she worked with, pulls seem to based on the customer's state. She added that generally, either Equifax or TransUnion is pulled with Experian as a "backup" — but that in some states, only Experian is pulled.

It's interesting that because the reps aren't told anything, they're working with data points just like we do here. The difference would be that they have a huge number of data points at their fingertips.

For CLIs or subsequent apps, I'd expect the same pull or pulls you got the first time around. If there's a change, it'd definitely be something that should be posted here. Smiley Happy If you apply for anything, please let us know how the pulls shake out.

Hi OP,

Regarding Penfed...you may want to wait to see if the CLI comes with your quarterly offer, then it would be a SP, normally they are a HP.  My July offer increased my limit from 10K to 35.6K and all I had to do was click "accept".

I'm (obviously) in MA, but for me Chase has always double-pulled EX and TU for new apps and single-pulled EX for CLI requests.

Re: When should I ask for a CLI on these?

Well I'm going into Chase this week probably tomorrow to take advantage of the savings account deal. So, I will tell the banker I am interested in the CSP offer on my account and will see where it goes with the LOL/24, which is actually LOL/9  on CC's for the year + a jumbo auto loan which totally trashed EQ. *eye roll*

Chase also pulled TU + EX for me on the CSR.

Re: When should I ask for a CLI on these?

Thank you for the info on PenFed. I never get any quarterly offers from PedFed other than TurboTax!

I have been a member since 2008 when my scores were around 650ish and they have me in a bucket from which there is no escape. I have fought tooth and nail to get the SL I have on my Power Rewards and recently closed all but that and my $5 share savings with them.

I'm going to ask for a CLI after the next quarterly offers and if I don't get it, I will be moving on to USAA.
