Wait, Cap One does upgrades now? What I'd always read here and been told by CSRs is the only way to "upgrade" is to app for a whole new card and then combine. Since when did they start doing PCs?
My cap one is my oldest account, like OP, but it's a worthless starter card with the lowest CL and highest APR of all my cards. I keep it for history but it's essentially permenantly sockdrawered until I can turn it into something useful.
KingAdrock, Have you asked for a credit limit increase? also how long have you had the card?
I've asked for CLIs, although not recently. Answer has *always* been the same, no customer initiated CLIs allowed. Backdoor #, frontdoor #, no difference. I opened the card in 10/2005.
Opening 4 cards in 5 months and asking for a PC isn't likely to go over well haha. Sit back, let your accounts age for awhile, and then evaluate your position. In all honesty never expect much to come out of your Capital One card except to establish credit history (or rebuild if necessary).
I Pc'd Capital One No Hassle Rewards 2% groceries 1% everythihng else to a Cap One Cash rewards net 1.5% rewards everything about 2 months ago. I think I was lucky that my first Cap1 started a world mastercard with 5k. Everyone is right I haven't had a CLI in 3 years and they won't give me one but it's my goto card for cashback without thinking of the month/reward/points/category. I use chase/bce for the major rotation but this is a no brainer cash back on everything.
I have to agree with what King said. I have to Cap1 cards, one 2 years old started with 500 and 6 months later 750 CL. The other one is 3 years old, started with 500, 6 months later 750 and when I was about to cancel it they increased me to 3750. I called probably last summer and was told the same thing, no customer requested CLIs. Maybe I will try to get them to upgrade my Plat to one of their higher end cards without a annual fee (if Cap1 carries such cards
). The other card (3750) is a rewards card.
I also have to agree with what someone else said, the Cap1 one CS experience is one that borders on horrible and that border is on the negative side of horrible.
