I have been in the garden Since November 2018 to get below Chase's 5/24 rule. November 2019 is when I will be eligible. The card that I want is SWA Rapid Rewards Visa. I typically fly once or twice a year and almost always on SWA. There are a few times I have had to make last-minute flights in the last few years and it is usually on SWA.
My question is do I need this card? I know I want this card! But, do I need it. Eeeh... I have an NFCU Flagship Rewards Card which is a travel card. Should I add an SWA CC to the mix as I normally fly with them? I get a freakin' mailer from them every 3 months to apply.
"You have 23,843 rapid reward points. Apply today and receive 40,000 additional points if approved"
Then the question is if I do decide to apply, which Rapid Rewards card do I apply for? Priority, Premium, or Plus?
What does the collective wisdom of the MFer herd think?
I've flip flopped with the idea of getting one but, the AF negates the purpose of collecting points with them. It's easier to keep the points w/o thinking about it too much but, sign up for their rewards dining and add your existing cards to your profile to collect them and keep your 24 month expiration from hitting.
UR's are more valuable and if you have CSP/CSR you can transfer them to SWA to use them there if you wanted to.
I've had this card since around 2013 and use it a lot to purchase stuff then pay it off monthly. The good thing with Southwest is there point's system is hassle free book a flight cancel then rebook no penality which if your a savy flyer you can cancel say the 12,000 point flight then rebook it at 11,500 points you can really do this unlimited to keep those points in your pocket. I don't fly a lot throughout the year with Southwest but I do fly once every Super Bowl Sunday to Las Vegas from Pittsburgh and the points come in handy. I like the idea that the points post generally within 30 days and it's just simple to use the points when needed. Good luck if you decide to go through wit them no problems on my end with Chase CC.
