Which Patelco card?

After looking at the thread about BK friendly cards I am thinking about getting a Patelco card.  I think all of them are no annual fee.  There are 3 different cards available.  There's a VISA classic, gold and some kind of MC.  I was told by a representative last night that I would have to apply for each separately.  If I applied for the gold and did not qualify I had to apply separately for the classic.  So I am assuming this would mean a separate inquiry.  I don't know if she knew what she was talking about or not.  Does anyone know if this is true?  Does anyone know which of these 3 cards is most BK friendly?

Re: Which Patelco card?

the classic is probably the most bk friendly

and most places will let it only count as one INQ for another card with them, as long as it is within a certain time period

i would talk to someone else over there again and ask just to be sure about the INQ

I would like to apply, but I can't find a way to meet the eligibility req. Is there any way around it?

Re: Which Patelco card?

I just applied, and for the eligibility, I just entered my home state ans selected the local YMCA. I applied for the Visa classic, requested $5k, and it said that a loan specialist will be contacting me soon. So, we'll see.

I applied and was approved with the stipulation of opening an account (which I will do-savings).

I specified the California Association for Older Americans in the comments. In the membership eligibility section it says that anyone can join this association regardless of age or location. We'll see what happens.

Re: Which Patelco card?

I got a Patelco gold (I think it is) w/CL $5000 - which is all I asked for - just two years post discharge. At the time, my scores were in the mid-600's. I had to open an account there - $5 - but that's it.

It's a great card - just 8.9% and they don't ding you if you're late with a payment (which I'm not), or go over your CL (never!), but it's nice to have that cushion if needed. They're easier to deal with on the phone - their email communication was difficult, annoying, and slow.

btw: I did call them a few months ago trying for a CLI so I could transfer some balances over and close other cards, but they said my debt/income ratio was too high... They won't approve CLI's if debt exceeds three months income.
