I'm having a hard time choosing which card is going to offer me the best protection on my rental car for my upcoming trip to Orlando. I'm trying to figure it out between the CSP, Hilton AMEX, Citi DC or the GM card. What say the great gurus of myFICO? I know my auto insurance covers me in a rental the same as if it were my own car.
Charge the entire amount on your CSP because it provides primary collision coverage.
Edited to note that a) be sure to decline the rental company's collision damage waiver, and b) request ahead of time from Chase a copy of the actual policy and bring it with you.
Pretty simple. There's a hidden perk on wemc cards. If you have wemc card and sign up for national rent a car you are automatically promoted to executive status and get the pick of the lot for a full size rate.
Are any of your cards WEMC ? If so that's what I would use.
According to the cards, the GM card and the Citi DC are both WEMC. Still costs twice as much with the WEMC discount code as the deal I got through Priceline. Something to know if I ever need a car quickly though, or someone else is paying for it.

CSP. Even if your regular car insurance covers rentals, you don't want to file a claim and mess up your rates, or have to disclose it when shopping around for new insurance.
I don't know if your Amex let's you enroll in their premium car rental insurance, for $15 or $25, but mine does, and it takes the place of primary car rental insurance as well.

Amex has awesome primary insurance.. pretty inexpensive, I know for a Florida resident it's about $14 for the entire rental term, up to 30 or 45 days or something like that

Only problem with cc car insurance, is getting them to pay. They will make you jump thru so many hoops to get paid it's ridiculous. The one time I had an accident in a rental i just used my car insurance. Rates went up $10 for the year. Minor.
I travel alot. Like the poster said above CSP. Most rental car coverage offerered by cards is secondary. But the CSP is primary. This means if you damage their car chase will pay the bill without having to notify your insurance company. This only covers collision on their car. But it is a great benifit. Also you get double points because this is a travel transaction.

And unlike Amex, the CSP coverage is free.
