Credit One and First Premier.
I would not apply for any card with an annual fee.
I have the scores (810-822) to app for most anything I want, but my income is low, I rarely travel, and I'm not a big enough spender to justify any annual fee cards.
I would also not app for any card from Wells Fargo, BofA, or Citi because I have longtime bad feelings toward those banks. Call it prejudice or call it preference, I just wouldn't.
I don't have any particular banks I wouldn't app with, I just won't waste time apping for a card that doesn't provide equal or better rewards to one I already have -- except if it's a card I can later combine limits with on another card I use and would keep after a combination.
For example: I have no need for Chase Disney, but I'd app it just to combine CLs later with a Chase card I would use.
Any card that doesn't give me free stuff for getting it. So no Discover cards. No Citi Diamond. No Chase Slate.
I woudn't apply for anything from Wells Fargo, Synchrony, or Comenity. I had negative experiences with the first two. And there's too much bizarre stuff reported here about Comenity.
A card I generally wouldn't suggest getting is Capital One's QuicksilverOne. It has an annual fee, and it's historically been difficult to upgarde into a no-fee Quicksilver. Instead, if one has "fair" credit, I'd recommend Capital One's Platinum card. It has no rewards. But it also has no fee, and people find it relatively easy to upgrade to a Quicksilver down the road. Even if it didn't upgrade, because it doesn't have a fee, it can live in the sock drawer and continue to contribute to one's history once better cards are obtained.
I'm not interested in any charge cards. I don't want to deal with the mystery of the unspoken spending limit, and I don't want to take on the fees.
And I don't want any retail cards. I don't shop at any one store frequently enough to justify them.
(1) Much like others have already mentioned earlier in the thread, I will not app for anything with an annual fee.
(2) Won't app for charge cards.
(3) Not fond of any Chase credit cards and can't really ever see myself as wanting to app for one of their cards again in the future.

1. Cards with low (but still over 2%) APRs and good customer service, but bad perks/rewards and nothing else to favor them. Simmons First, Iberia, etc. I can see how they work for others, but they're useless for me.
2. More sizzle than steak. Barclaycard Black/Luxury lineup. I travel and am happy to pay AFs...so long as I get value.
3. Fee-heavy subprime cards. First Premier, etc.
4. Less-than-great customer service unless there are seriously good rewards or benefits. I have Citi cards because the benefits outweigh the CS.
