I'm not sure how, I don't know if they take retired or just active. I am a full member of USAA, I get my insurance through them as well but I was told they give low limits. I don't know that for sure.
My USAA Amex has always been my highest limit card. They do HP when you request an increase but have been generous. If you have an offer for one pre-approved on the "my offers" tab of your USAA online, you're virtually guaranteed approval.

I wasn't looking to open another bank account but if it gets me a decent card with a higher limit I can deal with it. I was here in Diego Garcia for 5 years right after I retired, went back to the states for 3 years and came back here just over a year and a half ago.
Got to love the beaches there
Do your kids a favor, if you have any, and open an NFCU account.
This way you can teach them about proper credit management, and then when they are old enough, they can open a NFCU account as well!

"Got to love the beaches there" Yep, and I live in one of the buildings on the oceanside, about 10 seconds from the Indian Ocean!
The atoll offers some of the most beautiful beaches unknown to many. And the best, its not crowded

here is my advice cageym. Join and app for nfcu credit card. Nfcu gives ridiculous limits and easy approvals. Same day app for Amex charge card as much easier approval process. Zync is cheap and easiest Amex to get. You might be a bit marginal for their good cards. maybe app for one more card. Through usaa? Or if there is card you really like, app for that. Think of it as reach card. So you will end up with 3-4 inquiries spread between 3 bureaus. In january app for the cards you really want if any.
Cage, I will go with Crashem on this one. The FICO sim is a guess at best so dont base your decision solely on it. While you can join NFCU and soon you'll be telling us that you got a Visa with a $10K + CL
