I don't remember seeing anything about cards that won't pay rewards if you use Samsung (or Google or Apple) Pay... I have seen lots of articles about how the updated Token system causes you to lose bonus category rewards, or anything other than the basic (everything else earns x points) rewards level.
For example, your Discover bonus 5% category is groceries. You use the updated Samsung Pay, and Samsung charges your card for that amount, and then uses that amount to fund a temporary CC number. Since Discover technically was charged by Samsung (or whatever financial service they use), you earn the default 1%.
At least that's my understanding... I reserve the right to be completely wrong.
Do you remember what card you read about that said no rewards? I'm curious...

Can you give a link to one of the discussions? I've been getting correct category rewards on Samsung Pay, but just updated to the latest version (yesterdays). Is that the one with the issue?
Actually, I would like to know that as well.
However, a few weeks back I used Chase Freedom with Samsung pay to pay at Costco and I did get the 5% cashback. Freedom also gave me 5% on Costco purchases via Google Express.
I do not know about other cards.

I dont remember what or where i read about the rewards.. and it may have been just that- it may not recognize bonus categories for certain cards.. i just know whatever i read made me decide not to use it..
Longtimelurker- that us good news, and im hoping that puts my concern at ease.. What cards specifically do you know youre getting bonus reward categories on with Samsung pay if you dont mind me asking?
American Express Old Blue Cash. 5% at supermarket. It appears on the statement as Samsung Pay: Whole Foods Market for example
Would like to know this as well. I was hoping to take advantage of the samsung promo and pair it with the amex 2x small business promo specifically on my SPG card.
Upon further readong on DOC, it looks like a max of $10 a month but that is still better than nothing. And that is only the first month when you get rewards for half off plus the 2x points.
When you make a payment with Samsung Pay, you will continue to receive the rewards and benefits (such as points or cash back) your physical card provides.
I have recieved all of my points so far.
