Who here uses a CC for Bluebird Amex..

longtimelurker, opened up my eyes to bluebird, and I believe its going to be a nice tool to use for when I pay my company insurance (parking garage) cause Hartford Small Business only takes checks, and thats $3,300 a month Im missing out on. I would be using Vanilla Reloads from 711 and Office Depot to fund the Bluebird.

who else uses bluebird?? and what for??? do you use CC? or a debit card?

Make sure those places a) have VR and b) accept CCs to purchase them.  This varies regionally, many 7-11s do not accept ccs for them, and many Office Depots don't have them.   Visa and MC gift cards are much easier to obtain: the disadvantage is that they are slightly more expensive and you have to go the Walmart to get them loaded on your card.

Unless you have a rewards debit card, no real point in using that.

It's best with high-multiplier credit cards, so I use a 5x TYP at CVS.  Basically, each $500 VR I but gives me $25 back for a cost of $3.95.  Which is useful if you do enough!  Others get MR etc buy using e.g. PRG to buy gift cards at a grocery store.

However, unless you value UR very highly, it's not particularly worth it with a CSP as there is no bonus category.   It's ideal for meeting minimum spend, or perhaps getting to an award level, but not as a matter routine.  WIth VR you would be getting 500 points for $3.95 which is only just above the normal rate, and takes time.  And gift cards are worse, 500 points for $4.95-$5.95.   Plus routine use might annoy Chase.

I would be using it for Minimum spend requirements, then after I hit minimum, not sure what card I would use, maybe my Delta Amex, so I can keep getting miles.

Only reward cards I have at the moment are

Husband

Cap1 1.5% cash back

Sallie Mae 5% up to $250

Amex Delta

CSP

Chase Freedom
