I recently was approved for Nordstrom card via a recon just last week, but I found it strange that in the mail today I received a letter which basically does show my account number, and the summary of the credit report they pulled. They pulled EQ and it shows my score was 650 out of range 300-850. The strange thing is there is nothing else attached, nor is the card with it??? On my recent approval from Citi Thank you I did get the same letter (or something like it) but it came along with the credit card.
Is this standard practice for those that have received a Nordstrom card recently? Also, in looking at their scoring for EQ it seems they are using MyFico scoring?
I would say it's about 60/40 that I received letter by itself about terms and score and another envelope came card.
I received the letter separately, assumed a rejection, and then my email blew up with *new account* notifications.
Roughly a week after I got an envelope that said "YOU'RE IN" on the outside.

Sometimes (due to the Credit Card Act) you recieved the letter with your score because you may not have received the most favorable terms/interest rate for the card. Nordstrom is an issuer that has a variety of tiers on interest rates for their accounts, based on your credit. If they do not give you the best tier, they have to notify you of the score they used to make the determination. Amex is the same way now. This would not explain why the card is mailed separately, but I guess some people may decide not to take the terms offered once they get the letter.
I noticed that when I got my BCP, I got this same letter with the score, and disclosing the interest rate. It seemed to take longer than usual for AMEX to send the card (like over 2 weeks before I received it). In the past (when I got the best rate on one of their cards) I didn't get the letter first and it seemed like the card came very quickly.
If you don't mind me asking, what's the CL for your card? I'm going to app for Nordstrom in 6 mos, waiting for my inquiries to fall off and new ones to age as I read that nordstrom is picky with inquiries regardless of score

They have both a store card and Visa Signature card.

I was approved after a recon for $1k, of course they were very nice about even saying that I can call back if I need to make a bigger purchase or for a CLI in 6 months. I had applied for the Visa which is their signature card (knew it was a long stretch), but they told me that they start their Visa S. Cards with at $5 CL, but certainly can all as time has passed to see if I could be upgraded.
What are your scores? They are sensitive to inquiries that is for sure! I was denied for too many inquiries mainly and high credit limit ratio to over CL. I had 5 inquiries in the last 6 months but 3 were due to utilities (just moved) and the other 2 were from car shopping.
