Why I wish HSBC would sink like the Titanic!

Applied online for Store Card... Instant response saying they could not identify me, no mention of credit report, etc.

I call in to front line CSR, she says I have been declined store card because they were not able to confirm identity but she could offer me the MasterCard with $300 limit and an AF of EITHER $39 or $79.

Me - "If you were unable to verify me for store card and you are not able to see what CR you tried to pull or if one was gotten at all?" - I asked to speak to underwriting

So I get Underwriting and he quickly says it's been declined because of unable to verify me and if I go into the store and apply again they can call in and we can then verify that it's you and approve it... he goes on to say that it's not your credit that was the problem.

ME - So you are underwriting for HSBC? Yes

ME - Okay so I already have a Best Buy MC and your application asks for Drivers License why would you not be able to verify me? Well the computer has already desicioned this application and I can't change it.

ME - So I go in store and apply again, why would this same litttle computer system that HSBC relys on so heavily all of a sudden decide it wouldn't decision the app and spit back to call in and verify in store with employee the missing info and actually approve a regular store card? Yes, it might kick a reference out and then we could manual review.

Me - Okay but you are credit right? Yes Me - Well what exactly do you do if you can't manually review an application, you can't look at my credit report already pulled and you can't look at the Credit Card I already have from you with all of this information clearly verified since it's been open for years and it's being paid!? He was then mad that I would not listen to what he has directed me to do and would not answer what ghe does as an underwriter for HSBC if he can't over ride a computer!

Went into store, instant denial - No oh I have to call in, nothing... I asked her about calling and she says if it doesn't tell us to call in, no one we can reach can do anything.  The only smart person I met today!!!

Sorry to hear about the store card denial. Its a really good card. CapOne customer service is horrible also so I'm not happy with the take over.

They do that.  They also pulled my credit 3 times in one day. Online, phone and from the store after they strongly suggested I go there. Reason for my denials when they came in the mail was...... you already have a card.Smiley Wink

Re: Why I wish HSBC would sink like the Titanic!

Here is the creditor you applied for credit for.

HSBC Bank USA, N.A. Settles Consumer Fraud Lawsuit for $23.5 Million

HSBC Bank USA, N.A. has agreed to pay $23.5 million to settle a consumer fraud lawsuit that accused the company of deceiving its customers by enticing them to sign up for credit card insurance policies or enrolling them without their consent. According to Law 360 the class action claimed that HSBC purposely lied to consumers and signed them up for payment protection either without their knowledge or by telling them the program would aid in alleviating some their credit card debt when his was not the case. The program promised that if cardholders become unable to pay, they would be placed under debt suspension. The plaintiffs reported that the bank failed to inform consumers that they had to qualify for these terms and misled them about the price of the program.

Re: Why I wish HSBC would sink like the Titanic! n- HALF UPDATE!

Spoke with Christian in the Exec Office something rather that is listed in Back Door Number Thread.  I basically said all employees and even store personal that have to deal with irritated customers because they are told false things about credit and are told the "All Mighty HSBC Computer in the closet in who knows what country makes all decisions" that they are just as irritated and angry as me as a customer.  If an underwriter can't verify info and can't override a computer what is the purpose of their job?!

She was nice and said this was the right place to give that feedback allowing us to research, etc.

I was like I know my credit report inside and out and I know the score, the negatives, everything... I don't need to be told that letters were sent and if I don't understand after that letter I should speak with EQ not HSBC, I don't need a rep to tell me I don't qualify for more than $300 when I can get other accounts sonsistantly, I want real answers from real people.

I further said you and I both know that HSBC with hand out that little MC to anyone that is able to type a social into an app!! I didn't get a no not true but clearly she couldn't say anything towards it but said give me 24 hours (week Days) and I will talk to some involved and get back to you. I gave names and associate numbers and app number and she pulled up my current BBMC and I told her I also have a BB Store as joint or auth, would have to check so I'm well verified!

I will update if she calls back next week!

CA-

I don't think I've ever seen a positive thread started by you about HSBC (I too hate them) but why do you put yourself through all the heartache and pain of dealing with them???
