It's marketing. The point of marketing is to grab attention.

Read the info versus relying on envelope color.
Takeshi is the hardest marketing "nut to crack". He does not fall for the usual ploys. His levelheaded logistical approach causes the promo teams great angst. For he knows when to apply and won't fall for any firework display.
Discover marketing knows of the urban legend people like Takeshi. They try harder. They change the color of envelopes.
No discover, not today. Takeshi is strong. Try again.

Takeshi does not apply for cards, cards apply for Takeshi.

Well they finally sent me a blue one, but I have to wait because I need CSP (and hopfully FU) before I hit 5/24... While having a bunch of blue cards in my wallet will be nice, Discover isn't really a necessity lol.
As a supporting data point, it's the same 13.24%-16.24% range as the purple and maroons I have piling up.
hmmm resurrecting(!) a thread to 'grab our attentions'!?! just another marketing ploy from a discover agent.

It's my own thread from about 2 weeks ago... not really resurrecting
