And you do!  Citi DC, Fid Amex, QS etc.   Amex just chooses not to offer one

Welp, didn't really mention that. I was talking about straight cash back. That's one point I left off.

Re: Why is AMEX so cheap?

As long as Amex doesn't make any changes to the BCP's reward structure, I'm fine with them being 'cheap' on the general spend!  Smiley Tongue

Seriously though... the way I look at it, they can't be everything to everybody, or they would end up doing none of it well... or they would go broke trying.

Also, as much as I like the BCP, I really like to have diversification, and I would be hesitant to have too much of my monthly spend 'locked up' with one issuer - especially one with a reputation for being skittish, warranted or not.  The flip side of that is there are many folks who don't have the BCP, and who would love to have a 'general spend' card from Amex.  While it's not an exact match, the Everyday card and EDP are fairly close to 'fitting the bill' for this, only with MR points rather than cash.

Of course, who knows what the future holds, right?  Amex is fairly new to the revolving account world anyway, so to have developed as many offerings as they have in just a few years is pretty respectable.

Here's the real question... why in the world won't they do something more with the Green card?  It's iconic, so they certainly won't 'kill' it, but the offering as a whole just isn't attractive... unless somebody just specifically wants a charge card.  When I had my first Green card the AF was $55, which was considered expensive.  At $95, it's almost ridiculous, especially since there are now other MR earning cards with no AF (Everyday Card).  But, this is a question for a different thread on a different day... LOL.

The Double Cash is a great card, but keep in mind that currently Citi offers no cards (that is open to new applicants) without an AF that offers a greater than 2%/2x rate on any category. The BCE offers 3% on groceries. Point is, cards don't tend to offer both 2%+ on certain category and a 2% flat rewards. Choosing one or the other doesn't make a lender "cheap."

Right, if we, say, had a card that offerd 5X on gas/dining/groceries/3X Travel/2X everything else with no caps, no FTF, with no redemption threshold, low APR and no annual fee, can their systems even handle the amount of apps submitted in the next 5 minutes?

Please PM me the app link, I won't share!

Which card is the app link for?

The Unicorn.

Who issues that card? I can't find it anywhere!

Please note the important word IF. There is no unicorn card, it is but a dream, a sick, depressing, heartless joke to combine the best parts of all cards, which we will never see all together in one card. sorry Smiley Sad
