Were you requesting CLIs during that time though, or are you just referring to receiving auto-increases?

TBH, it wasn't even until I started seriously educating myself on credit when starting my rebuilding that I was aware you could ask for CLI's instead of just waiting for them to be awarded automatically.
There is no rhyme or reason to Discover CLI's. For a while there, it was pretty easy to get small, consistent CLI's that would eventually lead to larger CLI's. This was on a 30, 60, or 90 day cycle.
Now, they've closed down the gravy train, and people like myself can't get a CLI past their initial SL. I keep asking every month after my statement cuts, but I'm still stuck at 4.5K.

I'm sure there are a lot of people in that boat, since many don't know about requesting CLIs. This sort of skews things though and creates apples to oranges comparisons.
Person 1: My SL with Discover 5 years ago was $5k and my limit today is $7k. I've only gotten 1 CLI in those 5 years. This is BS!
Person 2: MY SL with Discover 5 years ago was $5k and my limit today is $38k. I've gotten 7 CLIs in those 5 years. Discover is awesome!
What we don't know from these two examples above is whether each person has received an auto-CLI (or CLIs in the case of Person 2) or if they've been hitting the SP CLI button online every few months for those 5 years.

There's always a reason even if it's not apparent at first glance, or even after some digging. How long have you had your Discover? Did you ever get an auto CLI at two or three months? What were your scores when you got your card, and what are they now? Are there any significant derogatory items on your credit reports? Did you start out from a secured card that was later graduated to unsecured, or was it an unsecured card from the start? What kind of spend do you put on the card monthly, and do you PIF or carry a balance? Is Discover a card you use frequently, or just once or twice a month?
I think, from what I've seen here over the past months, that all of these factors can affect your likelihood of getting CLI's.

Exactly. My wife had her card for 21 years before asking for a CLI. Probably still wouldn't have if I hadn't landed here.
