The reason to do business with US Bank regardless of any customer service issues is the Cash + card.
I have two of them and they are two of my favorites.
I like the CASH+ but is it really that great? The 5% is capped at $2000 per quarter right...so the max you can earn is $400 on $8k yearly spend on 2 specific categories.
I suppose if you ar able to get two that would bump it up to $16k spend. I think its a good card but kind of overrated due to the $2K cap.
Actually its $400 + $25 on $8000 spend. Which would be just over 5.3% cash back.
Unless you wanted to only spend $2000 per year, then its $100 + $25 which gets you 6.25% cash back.

Their overall offering of products is lackluster, everything is done manually, takes weeks to get responses on apps, very ill informed CSR's....and the list goes on.
B of A and Chase in my expereince far exceed the service you get from US Bank and offer better products, better CL, recons etc.
Ive had enough of these guys and Im cancelling my newly converted Platimum card. I just cant see any reason to give them my business.....they are the Time Warner of the banking industry.
Might be time to get a new slogan too..."ALL OF US SERVING YOU"....what a joke.
I closed my Cash+ because I could no longer stand dealing with their subpar web interface and slow as molasses phone customer service.
"ALL 3 OF US SERVING YOU" is more like it.
I have them for banking (and a Personal Platinum card, plus OD LOC). I applied the other day for their business card, they declined and sent a notice for excess available credit (fair enough!) and the Experien score they had listed was 640. The same day I got my letter from B of A on the new biz card and the Experien score they had listed was 743. I called US Bank, spent 21 minutes on hold and then got cut off. Decided I needed to see if something was wrong on my reports, nope all clean. Obviously I am aware of the difference in different scoring models but 100 points? WOW.
I havent had any good experiences with US Bank.
The most recent interaction was a 3rd request to convert my useless Platinum card to the Cash+.
Spoke with a CSR and they put the request in along with a request for CLI since I needed to get to $5K for the Cash+.
Called back a few days later and the CSR tells me "you were approved for the conversion to the Cash+". I login to my account and it shows US Bank Cash Rewards with limit still at $3K.
I tell the CSR " on my end it shows that my card is now a Cash Rewards card and teh limit is still at $3K".
Again she insists that it shows I was approved for the Cash+ and not the Cash Rewards card. She says the system may stil need to update and that I should wait to recieve my new card.
Its been about 15 day since then and still no card in the mail.
Wow this thread is a typical example of skewed reporting. If no one had told me US Bank was "bad," I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between them and any other bank. In fact my customer service experiences with them have been above average. Aside from an immediate cash bonus for opening a checking account, I always get an answer instantly when calling the local branch. They even called me when my Cash+ was approved after manual review, instead of just making me wait and wonder.
Maybe it's because I have an account with them. I really like the Cash+ card though - $$ builds up fast and it's my only card that gets second looks. Several times cashiers have given it a quick examination like they've never seen one before lol.
